Training the next generation of National Security professionals.

The Center for Defense and Homeland Security (CDHS) is designed to develop the next generation of national security and disaster preparedness professionals by addressing issues of compelling interest to the security of the United States. The CDHS’ interdisciplinary team of scientists, practitioners, and education specialists are engaged in transformational research. Through strategic partnerships with National Research Laboratories, Industry Associates, Institutions of Higher Education, the Department of Defense (DOD), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other federal, state, and local entities, the CDHS prepares its students for success in the modern workforce.

Cybersecurity Academy

Our team seeks to raise awareness about cyberspace risks. As technology advances, we have begun to teach students how to fight against hackers and viruses. Through our Cybersecurity Academy you can join many of our trained professionals and receive certificates for the courses you take.

Registration for June 2017 Cybersecurity and August 2017 Cyber Foundations courses has begun. Seating is first-come, first-serve. Do not miss out on this opportunity!
Emergency Management Academy

By facilitating curricular innovations and strengthening scientific leadership in research we foster an emergency management culture. We partner with local, state, military, and federal agencies to develop an emergency knowledge management system to collect and transfer knowledge, experience, and best practices throughout the region.

National Security Academy

We address selected national security priorities by partnering with DoD and DHS on a multitude of things, such as: geospatial information system, data-to-decisions challenges, human systems technologies, autonomous systems, behavioral health challenges, and threat detection. Our team of researchers is currently developing intelligence algorithms to enhance visual data analysis for persons and objects of interest.
